head 'em up, and move 'em out...
It's been a fun couple of years. That much is certain. But it's time for me to leave WNOX and WIVK.
I've had the chance to meet some of the best and worst people in the world. I've sat at a table with 1st Lady Laura Bush, covered numerous elections, been in courtrooms with murderers, watched history burn downtown. I've seen the best and worst of life and death, but the most important thing I take away from WNOX is getting to know the people of East Tennessee... the most blessed chunk of God's green Earth. This is where I grew up, and I've learned more about our community in the last two years than in the rest of my life combined. Our listeners represent everything that is good about being a Tennessean. Thank you giving me the chance to get to know you.
I look forward to whatever the future holds for me, but I won't be far, that's for sure. I'm just taking a short trip down the road to WVLT-TV Channel 8. It's going to be a great opportunity.
There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that unfortunately is not seen by our listeners. But know that every laugh, jest and jeer is sincere. Radio is fun... more fun than a job should be allowed to be. The people are great, and I'm convinced that there are none better than our own group here at WNOX and WIVK. Hallerin, Chris, Dave, Phil, Gunny, Catherine, Channing and myself are all the same people in person that you hear on the radio. None of us put on a mask to come to work everyday -- heck, they couldn't even get me to wear a tie, let alone get me to pretend to be someone other than my own East-Tennessee-country-boy self. I just hope you all have had as much fun listening to me as I have had talking to you everyday in your car, at work, or in your home. Our conversations were the most important part of my workday, thank you for tuning in. I only hope I was able to live up to your standards.
Those are my friends you hear behind the mic everyday, so keep tuning them in, they're the best in the business, and it doesn't cost you a thing.
For those of you that would like to shoot me an email, just click on my profile in the top right corner of the page, then click email. If that doesn't work, my email address is radiomanmic[at]gmail.com, just replace '[at]' with @. Also, you can leave me a voicemail simply by clicking on the "CALL ME" icon to the right. It really does work, it's free, and you're able to leave the message from your own phone. My personal cell phone rings with every new message, so know that I'll be checking them, and returning calls. I love talking to listeners, so don't be a stranger.
