New Year's in the South

I've lived in the South my entire life, but every year I'm intrigued by the curious traditional New Year's food (http://tinyurl.com/7ve4x8). 

 

Like a good southern boy, I love me some Hog's Jowl, but I'm not a big fan of either black-eyed peas or greens.  Looks like I'll unlucky and poor, but hey... at least I'll have my health.
